AUT 204 - Automotive Drivetrains


This course covers the drivetrain and the components common in today’s automobile. Covered topics include front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive transmissions systems. The power delivery to the wheels through the clutch, torque converter, transmission, differential and drive shafts are part of this course. Theory and common maintenance procedures will be covered. This course includes a laboratory section that has activities specifically designed to facilitate knowledge acquisition of course subject matter. Constant-velocity axles and driveshaft overhaul will be covered. Included will be a section on diagnostics, noise, and vibration causes and repairs. Students must register for a lab component of this course.
Prerequisite(s): AUT 100  and AUT 121
