LGL 220 - Litigation I In this course, students will examine the initial steps of the litigation process including client interviews, pre-litigation investigation and evaluation of the cause of action, drafting complaints and answers. The student will learn the details of filing a lawsuit including the jurisdiction and venue considerations and service of process. The structure of the court system and rules governing litigation are presented and students will explore the workings of a litigation practice and the role played by the paralegal. Emphasis is placed upon forms and documents used in litigation practice, and the ethical guidelines for the paralegal employed in a litigation firm. 3 lecture hours per week. 3 credit hours
