Program Description

The Liberal Studies program is designed to be a flexible, transfer-oriented curriculum for students who want to complete a broad-based general education foundation before majoring in a specific academic discipline. This program is ideal for those students who would like to complete an Associate in Science program, and transfer to a baccalaureate degree program. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  • Communicate clearly orally and in writing;
  • Implement critical-thinking, problem-solving, and technological skills for the purpose of learning and research;
  • Demonstrate college-level competency in historical knowledge;
  • Recognize and explain approaches from the humanities and social sciences to analyze the impact of human and social behaviors;
  • Recognize and explain ethical implications of everyday issues;
  • Discuss and implement mathematical methods to solve problems.

After Union County College
