ENG 210 - World Literature II ▲ = Fulfills a General Education Requirement This course includes a study of major works of modern world literature from 1650 to the present. Through a comparative approach to representative works by European, East and South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, and Latin American writers, this course will expose students to a diverse range of cultures and literary practices. Emphasis will be placed on the social and historical context which informs the production and reception of these works. The relationship between that context and such major literary and cultural movements as Romanticism, Realism, Modernism, Postmodernism, and Postcolonialism will be examined as the basis for comparative study of these works. Major authors may include Rousseau, Tolstoy, Kafka, Pirandello, Lu, Neruda, Sembene, al-Saadawi, and Rushdie. Prerequisite(s): ENG 102 3 lecture hours per week 3 credit hours
