CHE 107 - The Chemistry of Forensic Science ▲ = Fulfills a General Education Requirement CHE 107 will introduce various methodologies and applications used in the forensic context. This course reviews the challenges, methods and analyses of forensic science from a chemical perspective. Topics discussed include organic and inorganic chemical analyses of physical evidence, drugs and poisons, forensic toxicology, explosives, and the chemistry of color and colorants. This course includes a laboratory section that has experiments and activities specifically designed to facilitate knowledge acquisition of course subject matter. Students will analyze physical evidence using recent developments in non-instrumental and instrumental techniques. Students who have not had high school chemistry are recommended to take CHE 101. Students must register for a lab component of this course. 3 lecture and 3 laboratory hours per week 4 credit hours
