CHE 107 - The Chemistry of Forensic Science ▲ = Fulfills a General Education Requirement CHE 107 will introduce various methodologies and applications used in the forensic context. This course reviews the challenges, methods and analyses of forensic science from a chemical perspective. Topics discussed include organic and inorganic chemical analyses of physical evidence, drugs and poisons, forensic toxicology, explosives, and the chemistry of color and colorants. Laboratory is included. Analyzing physical evidence using recent developments in non-instrumental and instrumental techniques. Students who have not had high school chemistry are recommended to take CHE 101. Prerequisite(s): CHEL 107 3 lecture and 3 laboratory hours per week 4 credit hours
