BIO 103 - Environmental Science

This course is a study of biological and ecological principles and the interaction of humans with the biosphere. Population growth, technology, and the overuse and abuse of natural resources are covered in terms of their contributions toward the degradation of environmental quality. The ethical implications of how humans will deal with these environmental problems are investigated. This course includes a laboratory section that has experiments and activities specifically designed to facilitated knowledge acquisition of course subject matter. One or two all day field trips on weekends may be required in lieu of some regularly scheduled laboratory sessions. If a student cannot attend a field trip on a weekend day, an alternate learning experience will be assigned to replace the missed field trip.
