NURM 104 - Conceptual Foundations for LPN Transition


This course is a bridge course designed to facilitate the transition of the student from the role of the licensed practical nurse (LPN) to the role of a student preparing for the registered nurse (RN) practice. The student will be introduced to the philosophy, objectives, and conceptual framework of the JFK Muhlenberg Snyder School of Nursing program. The clinical judgment model will be introduced as it relates to evidence-based decision making when planning care for adults. Nursing theory will expand on concepts in fundamentals of nursing and advance in medical-surgical concepts. Laboratory and clinical experiences are in the acute care setting and begin with care needs and advance to care of medical-surgical clients. The role of the RN as a member of the nursing and health teams will be explored.
Prerequisite(s): BIO 105 , BIO 106 , BIO 108 , ENG 101 , ENG 102 , PSY 101 , PSY 204 , SOC 101
