Program Description


Option offered through Computer Science, A.S.

The Cybersecurity Option offered through the Computer Science, A.S. program is a hands-on curriculum designed to provide students with crucial skills necessary to navigate the intricacies of the cybersecurity landscape. Covering key areas such as network security, ethical hacking, and specialized cybersecurity courses, the program ensures not only theoretical understanding but also practical experience, fostering a strong ethical foundation. Graduates emerge well-prepared and equipped with a comprehensive grasp of both the legal and ethical dimensions of the cybersecurity field. By emphasizing applied knowledge and problem-solving, the program equips students to confidently contribute to the ever-evolving realm of cybersecurity upon completion.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills;
  • Communicate technical and non-technical information effectively, orally and in writing
  • Formulate solutions to cybersecurity problems using algorithmic approaches.
  • Discuss the legal, ethical, and societal issues in the field of cybersecurity;
  • Demonstrate information literacy through the effective use of cybersecurity resources.
  • Evaluate Cybersecurity issues within the context of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
